Running Impact Analysis

You can run impact analysis using the mapping specification grid on:

  • Any source / target table
  • Any source / target column

You can also export the impact analysis report in .pdf or .xlsx format.

To run impact analysis reports at table / column level, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Application Menu > Data Catalog > Mapping Manager.
  2. Under the Workspace Mappings pane, expand the desired project.
  3. Click the desired map.
  4. The Mapping Specification grid appears.

  5. Select the desired row.
  6. Right-click the Target or Source table / column.
  7. Hover over Impact Analysis Report.
  8. Use the following options:
    Default Search
    Use this option to view the default report. The default report includes all the mappings into consideration while generating the report.
    Direct Impact: It displays the impact of table / column as a source and as a target.
    Indirect Impact: It displays the upstream impact and downstream impact of a table / column.
    Other Impacts: It displays the impact of the table / column in:
    • Business rules
    • Source Extract SQL
    • In Lookups
    Advanced Search
    Use this option to customize the impact analysis report by including or excluding other mappings.
    Load Passive Mappings / Load Active Mappings: Use this option to load passive mappings.
    Load All Mappings: Use this option to load all mappings.
    Select the mappings to include them in the impact analysis and click .
    The report is displayed.
  9. Click to export the report in .xlsx format.
  10. Click to export the report in .pdf format.
